Who actually makes Schatt & Morgan knives?

Wendell Carson is 'Fightn Bull' and he buys components from whoever (currently Queen, it looks like) and assembles them. I have four of his toothpicks handled in Red and black pearl and stag and his workmanship is high, very high. I have an older one that he used Bulldog parts. I really can't say enough good things about him. Recently, I urged him to get better ebay photos of his knives up, and he's done so... so blame me for the higher prices they are fetching.

If I wasn't clear above, Queen makes Schatt and Morgan knives. They own the trademark. Interesting story... Schratt & Morgan thrived in the early 20th century, until a bunch of their foremen started taking their work home with them to form Queen City Cutlery Company. That about killed S & M, and they were bought out by the new company. Kinda an unsavory corporate history, huh?

Anyway, once more Wendell Carson knives are excellent.

textoothpk has laid it out pretty straight, so I'm just embellishing (more on that) here.

Here is a link to the Queen website.....

http://www.queencutlery.com/catalog.html

Queen and Ontario are sister companies owned by a larger company named Servotronics. Queen makes Schatt and Morgan, Robeson (not too often) and knives on contract for others.

Wendell Carson has been a hafter and embellisher (see, I told you... ;) ) of knives for a long time. I have a knife that Wendell embellished (added 2 blades and MOP scales) and signed inside on the liner, dated 7-23-82.

More recently, he began branding his knives, made from components as textoothpk mentioned, as Fightin Bull. Most of these are not identified by markings from the component manufacturer. But, some, like the one in the link you posted, have both players identified.

Just a little more info, hope it wasn't boring.

SOOOO, textoothpk, it was you?? :D

Where do you see that? Listing says $4.

Click on "view seller's other items."
Click on trapper with camel bone scales.
In blue text, it says shipping on first item is "44.00."

If others say $4.00, doubtless a typo.

It's a typo Thomas...note that it's only $5.00 to combine items. Good catch, though... ;)

Only e-bay dealers can get away with charging $44.00 shipping---usually on a 99 cent item.

Thanks for filling in the gaps, Bill. Nothing boring about more information.

And yep, Pickupman, you are sure right about some of those ebay sellers and the postage/shipping/bs charges they can come up with.

Phil

Thanks for the info guys.
Bill, definitely not boring mate.
Textoothpk, I'm not sure whether to applaud you for helping Mr. Carson, or organise a lynch mob to 'explain' why fellow collector's aren't so happy! :D :p

btw, where's the rofl or the lol smilies? Mods?

  ,

Phil, you shall heretofore be known as "Dr. Frankenstein" for helping to create a Monster!!.....with apologies to Mary Shelley, of course.

You are obviously a very influential person, and would make a great moderator.

Best,

Bill

P. S.
Just some carryover from the Schrade forum...sorry, no hijack intended. :)
