Howdy,

I am kinda on a Nordic Knife kick lately...

And I am wondering who has those Hultafors Knives?

What do you think of them?

And where do you get them?

Supermora!

Big thick handle works real well for me, blade has an interesting, very sharp grind.
Bought mine off another forum member. Keep it as backup in my BOB.

They're much tougher and hold an edge better than the Moras !
I love these knives - cheap, but great for real world use :D
Great for backup knives, especially the ultra-tough Grovkniv ;)
They're amazing for wood carving .

Would you live in the Ed on Stora Lee? Where abouts is this shop of which you speak? I was in Ed last April as kick-off for a week's canoeing and there are plans to go back again in late April or May this year.

I have a couple of Hultafors knives and agree with all previous comments, I like mine a lot.

Yes, exactly that place.

There are two shops in Ed that have Hultafors knives.
Either you can go to "Nybergs Bygg". The DIY store past Shell, the furniture shop and the car part shop.

or "Mekservice". At the end of the road past "Karlssons"

Lets say you come to Ed and drive in to the town between Shell and the firestation.
If you then turn right "round" Toyota, drive on for some hundred meters. The DIY store is on the right. You cant miss it.
The other shop is if you turn left just when the open place behind the furniture store ends. Continue on past lots of small industries until the road turns right. At the left there is a garage with a small door. They have loads and loads of high end tools and gear.

Mail me next time you are in the neighbourhood.

I got one, This past summer i was able to spend a month in Sweden and was staying about an hour from the manufacturing plant of these knives. While there i bought alot of Moras but only one Hultafors. It is a very beefy knife and fits well in the hand. They make tons of models and have them in nearly every store along with moras. They even make piggy back systems with a combo of different Hultafors. I bought this one for about 4 bucks at a hardware store. I cant tell you how much i want to go back.

This is my haul for the trip. Its the Green handled one with the bigger blade.

Im just glad customs didnt want to look in my checked bag when i re entered the U.S.

I bought one at a Pawn shop, Nice knife but not much different than the Mora, just harder to get.:):)

The Hultafors knives are marketed in the US under the "Skillers" name as "Skillers Accessories". Skillers makes workwear as well. The US marketer is www.repconnw.com.

I've been looking to get one of the GK green handled knives for about 6 months, but the funds keep going to other things. Thanks for reminding me!

The knives are nice but the sheath will not fit on a belt. It is intended to hang from a button on Swedish work clothes.

They do fit on a belt too. You need to open the flap and cut off a small plastic "wing" on the inside. You can even cut off the wing without opening the flap if you are careful.
You can also make an "adapter" by taking a piece of webbing, fold it and sew on a button. Now the webbing loop fits on your belt and the knife hangs from the button :)
Or just sew on an extra button on your pants :)

There are two ways to carry the knife on swedish workwear:
1. On a button on the right side, on the work west breast pocket. It also has a loop sewn on below the pocket for the knife to sit in.
2. On a button near the right side cargo pocket on the trousers. The loop is there as well.
On the Skillers pages you can see what I am talking about.

But, the harder to get part, is the fun part....

Uh, what did I just say.... Excuse me, I need to go have a conversation with whoever said that...
