Hi everybody!
It's been quite a while since I visited the cantina.
I've just ordered my second khurk, an Ang Khola Chirwa.
Bill mentioned it was made by Jag and Prem.
Are these guys new to the team? What shop do they work out of?
I was curious because it's been so long since I've logged on, I'm out of the loop and don't know the new happenings.
As usual it was a pleasure dealing with Bill, excellent customer service and extremely speedy contact.
Do Jag and Prem have a mark? My first khurk was made by Sanu and his mark is the cross.
Did anyone catch the Discovery channel show on X-creatures featuring the Yeti? It had incredible footage of Nepal.
Nice to "see" everybody!

What I can remember of their introduction is that Prem is the junior member of the team, 55 years old with only 35 years experience as a kami. Jag is, IIRC, approaching 80. I have a 14" Sirupati by my elbow, a horn-handle crack blem, which is destined to be my carry blade when my sheath-making skills kick in.

Yvsa has their "final exam" Chainpuri, a display of their skills for BirGhorka to decide whether they could measure up. I don't now if he sleeps with it or not, but I'm pretty sure he takes it to the table at mealtime, in case any of that Oklahoma beef decides to act up. Their mark is a stylized sun, with four rays emanating at N-S-E-W, and smaller rays in between. They make Niiiice blades :D

Hello

I have one Chainpure by the same kamis very similar to Yvsa's and have to say that this is a great khukuri and shows excellent workmanship all over, well worth the HI mark.

I don't think Jag is that old, Wal. As I recall I think Gelbu told me he was about 55 and Prem is 35. Their mark is a sun with four points at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. They generally do fine work but every now and then will slip in a repaired handle for some reason.

I missed the Yeti program but I'm sure it'll be back and I'll try to watch it next time around.

I cant wait to see it,it was a hard choice as I have my eye on several models like a 18 centurey.

And the 18th Century is anothe rgreat knife, by the way. It was my second purchase from HI.
