Hi.

I have a Bud Nealy ATS-34 Kinzahl.

I would like to get the blade coated black.

Who offers this service?

Bud does a powder coat, but I am not seeing much praise of that process. Also, he will not be able to do it for some time.

Thank you.

There used to be someone supplying that surface talked about on the forums, but I believe they no longer take individual orders. A search on this forum or a Google on the term Boron Carbide or maybe Boron Tricarbide may help.

I don't think the custom knife forum is the right place for this inquiry. Maybe Shop Talk?

The only place that I know of that has this service is Bodycote and they no longer do individual knives.

darrel @ bodycote no longer does individual knives, i wouldnt reccomend the powder coat bud does, i had my M2 pesh kebz redone, i thought the coating was messed up, come to find out its just the way it looks, lol, i guess it wears ok, but looks blotchy/funky, didnt like it myself, i really dont know of anyone who does a good reliable tough coating, bodycote did "ok" but werent that great imho. i would leave it satin myself.

Talk to Jones Brothers. They used to add knives to their batches. Bodycote has something like a $200 minimum order now. Other makers like David Dempsey do a lot of it and might also be willing to piggyback on to one of their orders.
Enjoy, Ken
