When I wear my new Hamilton Khaki Navy, I can hear the movement tick even when the watch is almost 2 feet from my ear (for example, i can faintly hear it now as i type).

i love that sound. :) :D ;)

I can hear my WestCoasTime 5513 diver at night when it's lying on my nightstand. If I do, I put some cloth underneath it because I prefer absolute silence when I sleep...which at the moment is a tad difficult with millions  of frogs making sound all night around my house :(

If you want a really loud ticker get an old mechanical Timex. With no jeweled bearings they need a powerful mainspring to overcome the friction, and it WHACKS that lever into that escapement. Old mechanical alarm clocks are even louder -- it's the same movement scaled up to a larger size.

My Marcel Drucker watch has a lovely calming tick that I can just hear if I listen for it.

I often listen for it to shut out the useless white noise that the world makes.

I bought my SkyTimer auto just so I could hear that noise.. and ya can't on this one.. :(
it is so quiet I have to smash the back against my ear just to barley hear it ...
Maybe that's a good thing

I grant you that my hearing isn't the worlds best but I have to put my Rolex right up next to my ear or on something that acts like a sounding board before I can hear it.

I've got a keywind alarm clock that hammers away, I love it! :D I got it at Target a few months ago in my continuing quest to divest myself as much as possible of batteries.

My automatic watch? No, you really have to have it next to your ear to hear the motor running.

Edit: See what happens when I take too long composing a post? Kamkazmoto, I don't think it's your hearing. My auto is also from Geneve, a caliber 3130.
