I am working on a small gents fixed blade and would like a velvet lined kydex sheath so it does not scratch or rub on the damascus blade. Who can reccomend a good maker for me?
Thanks,
Chuck

I think a deer skin lined sheath would be more desirable and durable. Gary Graley did these with leather but is on sabatical now. I think kydexsmith's like Mike Sastre and Eric from On Scene Tactical can make such well fitting sheaths that they WILL NOT scratch the blade. You can contact them:

Hi Striper...

I can make you a sheath no problem,, but before you let anyone line your sheath with anything,, Read Here :

If you still need a better explanation or have further questions,, feel free to drop me a note....

Well I guess that doesn't explain it as well as I thought...

When you line a sheath with material, in effect what you are creating is something to wipe off your knife, as it goes in and out...

Having that lining wipe off a grain of sand you've just picked up off the park bench, then introduce it into your sheath... You have the beginning of sandpaper....

Another reason not to do it is the material may rip, tear or seperate from the inside of the sheath.. What you'll have is a bunched up, torn and tattered hunk of material inside your sheath,,making it useless and a Huge waste of money...

Some people do it and don't have problems,, but take my advice and steer clear of it.. no sheathmakers I know would ever line a synthetic sheath with material...

But then again,, maybe Mike will..:)~ :)
