It will be gift for my grandfather…..

Looking for excellent “fit-n-finish” and Quality execution by maker – please!

Thanks in advance!

Ralph Turnbull, spring hill, fl builds a very nice lock back folder. There is a example of his work on ebay now. It is a liner lock thou. You could give him a call as he usually keeps sereral ready to go............jake

I don't know if Tim Britton makes lockbacks, but if he does, I certainly would not overlook him as a possible canidate!

Fred Slee does excellent work and very reasonable. I have four of his lockbacks and one fixed blade that matches one of the folders. He also does nice file work, engraving, and sheath work. Just received the latest folder last week in time for Fathers Day. He will work to your design and has some backlog.

Excellent suggestion. I owned this one for a few years. Really reasonable in price and top-rated in design and fitment.

Fred has no email that is listed. He lives in NJ. 732-591-9047

He and his wife Jane are tops!

This is a link to the web site of Leon Treiber of Ingram, Texas. He makes some of the very finest fit and finish and SMOOTH action lockbacks I've seen. I think it would be well worth your time and trouble to contact him and have him email you some photos of his work.

Gene Basket makes a fine one. I have one from Peter Bald the President of the Knifemakers Guild in Australia and its flawless. He is a bit hard to reach but man he makes a fine lockback! This little wharncliffe flat grind lockback is something I've never seen too many of. I mean you see a lot of lockbacks and you see a lot of wharncliffes but its a bit harder to find them together in the same knife.
