Who carries one of these big, heavy "Folding Hunters" for EDC? What do you use it for on a daily basis?

Personally I went from a standard 110 in a leather sheath that I carried for many years, to a 560 in a nylon sheath which I carried for several years, to a Marksman that I carried for a couple of years, to a home-butchered 110 that I now carry daily in my back pocket.

According to my scale, a standard 110 weighs in at a hefty 7.25oz, my 560 on the same scale came in at a slim 4.5oz, and my home butchered 110 comes in at 5.5oz.

So... who really carries and uses a 110 daily?

I have one on my belt everyday. Right now it's a finger groove model, but I switch back and forth with a standard version. I don't carry my custom shop 110 very much. I carry a 112 every once in a while but I always end up changing back. I would like to try a 500 and see how I like it. I always carry a smaller knife in my pocket (55 or a Case of some sort) to ride along though.

I carried one for 8 years since I collect buck knives .. I switched it for a 560 xlti few weeks ago mostly for weight reasons , I tried to carry a 55 sometime but found it to small for my use .

I have started carrying one everyday lately. I carried one for years when i was younger.

I have 3 110. 3 different ones from the custom shop. I leave one at work where I'm consently cutting boxes with the 110. I alternate between the other 2 110s outside of work. I prefer the 110 weight. I tired to edc a 112. Found it to small for my big hands and thought the 112 was to light. I've carried and a 110 for the last 3 years easily

I carry mine probably 3-4 days out of the week. Use to carry in the old leather sheath it came with until I bought a 50th anniversary with a nylon sheath. Now I prefer the nylon over the leather because of the horizontal carry option and how easily it tucks away. The nylon sheath also makes it feel lighter. As for use, I break down boxes, use it for yard work, etc. and whatever else you use a knife for. I actually cut and replaced drywall for a friend last year with my 110 because it was all I had on me at the time.

I do not carry one any longer. When I was young I carried one everyday in my back pocket. It would drag my pants down so I had to keep hitching up my britches. I also carried one in the Army. But now that I am much older, I carry a more modern knife of the same size that is strong and only weighs 3.4 oz.

I have been carrying one through the summer and I like it. I'm currently working on the patina on my oak handle 110 with 5160. Also, I'm testing the general use of 5160. It's doing very well. Overall I like the nylon sheath for several reasons. It's comfortable, it forms to the body better which keeps it from grabbing on things and also it doesn't print (display itself) as much under my Tee-shirt. Carrying it between 6 - 8 o'clock on the belt keeps it high and back far enough to keep the weight in check. I'm right handed, but like pulling it with my left hand (tip up - blade forward) and then opening the blade with my right. If needed, I can still reach it with my right hand. But, if I need something quicker, it's a 286 Bantam in the right cargo pocket on my shorts or rear pocket in jeans. Small folders in the front pockets just for fun.

I like the feel of the 110 and that is why I carry it daily. Right next to my ammo pouch. I also carry a 55. I'll use the one that fits the job I am working on at the time. I have carried two Bucks for years.

I carry everywhere I go. I use it for every thing. Love the 110.

Not every day, but a lot. I have two 110s in my carry rotation: a custom shop with drop point and water buffalo scales with nickel bolsters, or a standard dymondwood clip point with brass bolsters. Both wear aftermarket thumbstuds and both are carried in an open top leather cross draw sheath at 11 o'clock.

I use the thumbstuds too. It basically eliminated carrying a modern folder. I still do, but not often. I really want an open top sheath for my 110's. I have one for Case trappers and I love it.

I don't have one on my person all the time, but it's there when I need it ,either the glove box,my belt, the drawer, car door,I've got 110 s stored all over the place lol

But now that I am much older . . . .

I think that as we age - I am 54 - we tend to move toward reduced weight and size while still retaining adequate utility. I don't have any empirical data to support this, but read for example that older guys who carry guns tend to move toward the smaller, lighter end of the spectrum like a S&W J-frame. Jerry Mikulec, for example, says he carries a J-Frame. I think the same may be true with knives and other gear. We aren't as willing to put up with the heavy gear anymore if a smaller, lighter knife, gun, etc. will do that job. Just my take on things. This is not a universal truth, and many "older" guys carry their heavier toys (Buck 110), but I think it generally true. It is certainly true with me. I have a Swiss Army Knife on me, along with a J-frame S&W in my pocket, smaller light, etc. Yet I still have all of my utility needs covered.

All of that weighs more than a 110. :D

When i was younger, lets say 13 to 23, i carried my 110 everyday in my back pocket along side my wallet. It was never in the way and never seemed to heavy. When i recently decided to commit to carrying a 110 everyday again i wanted to carry it in a sheath instead of in pocket. I am now 43.
I noticed it being on my belt for about the first week. It wasnt really uncomfortabe or troublesome, i just new it was there. After that, i cant even tell i am carrying it. The reason i switched from back pocket to sheath carry is because i have changed the style of jeans that i wear.

A 110 is one of my few EDCs, but I don't carry one as much lately as I used to.
I don't sheath carry one anymore since I learned how convenient it is with a pocket clip that I added to some.
Probably 95% of the knives I carry now have pocket clips.

I remember years ago most jeans (I think Levi's and Wranglers) had a small pocket in the larger front pocket for that reason alone, to carry a folding pocket knife. You don't see that much now these days.
