I have heard people always talk about sending their busse in to Norcal Blacktail or Ban Tang but I can not seem to get ahold of them. Prob me being stupid but does anyone have a few names that currently do the convexing? Does Norcal Blacktail still do the re-grinds, most recent stuff I could find on him was still a few years back. Again prob me just being stupid but any help would be much appreciated. Got a few big ones i want done.

Thanks,

Are you talking a full convex spine to edge? Or just the edge?

Thank you all for the help. I just love the full convex on large busse. Got a convex NMFBM and a convex basic 11. also have a norcal blacktail re-grind NMSFNO with tigerhide on its way to me in the mail and very excited to see it first hand. Got me thinking of getting some others re-ground. Thanks again to everyone.

I can vouch for both gentlemen mentioned: Ban AND Josh....top drawer providers! &

I don't know if Norcal Blacktail is still re-grinding, but he does some of the best work I have EVER seen.

Well I abused my TGLB recently. The blade tip is not as pointy as I like and I'd like the blade re-profiled. I think I'll contact one of them soon.

yea i really one try out some of Ban's work. Ill post pictures of the norcal re-ground nmsfno when i arrives today. I am soo excited... Also the basic 11 with a full convex is just amazing for some of the smaller bushes. My NMFBM was just way to heavy for that stuff. Live in the US Virgin islands so alot of just jungle brush around.

Also weird question but would you recommend a convex re-grind on a FAST ASH with the Full Flat grind? I am very new at this re-grind stuff so dont know if that would require removing too much material. Or should I keep the main the full flat and just do a convex on the edge? Any recommendations. Knife would be used. Mostly processing raw food for my dog. So would need to be able to go through some bones now and again (nothing big like a cow bone but turkey necks etc.)

Thanks again for the all the input and advice from everyone.

I'm very interested too. Can we see pictures of your re-ground Basic 11 as well? Who did the work for you?

Many thanks,

Mark H.

Hi Mark,

I bought the basic11 like that. Its down at my work. (use it for clearing that damn jungle bush that pops back up every second...) I'll grab it tomorrow and take some pics. I think the previous owner WValtakis did the work. He stripped it and either convexed it himself or had it convexed (memory is giving me a little difficulty...) but he did a really really nice job on the stripping and the convexing. Great guy and great seller also. Gave me a very very fair price on it and a kydex for it also. Will upload a bunch of pics from them all tomorrow. (did not make it to my mail center to pick up the nmsfno yet but tracking shows it sitting there just waiting for me to open. I cant wait.

Yup, was all done by me. Etched and stripped, then thinned the shoulders on a belt sander followed by a LOT of hand sanding. :)

I'm glad you're enjoying it, it's been neglected for too long since I finally scored a Light Chopper. Beat it like a rented mule ;)

Ban's work is exceptional. The cutting performance with his edges is unreal. Facebook has worked best for me to communicate with him.

I haven't had the pleasure to have any work done by Nate, and it doesn't appear he's doing any Busse regrinds at the moment.

Josh at RazorEdgeKnives does excellent work, performs regrinds and many other services, but I believe primarily works with V edges and refers convex edge work to Jason B (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1132962-Traditional-Sharpening-Services). I haven't used him personally but would love to hear feedback if you do.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I would second Josh at Razor's Edge and Ban... Both are fantastic to work with... Quick in my experience... Had Ban do the convex on my Short Butaniku [emoji106]
