Who designed the model 19?

The description of the model 19 says it was designed by a professional woodsman. I'm left wondering not only what a profesional woodsman is, but more importantly who he was. If not who, then why is his identity a secret? Any thoughts?

I just ordered a model 19 Bushmaster with a stag handle (as a present to myself for a career milestone) to go with my model 21 Littlegame, (a present for the last milestone). They have the same stag handle with the red white blue spacers.

Bob Gaddis writes in his tome, 'Randall Made Knives, The History of the Man and His Blades', (A great book on the subject, btw), on pages 209-211, that outdoorsman Norm Sherwood, working with W.D. 'Bo' Randall, developed the initial concept/design in 1962, evolving into the current design around 1966, with a 5" version added in 1972. Hope that helps, and congrats on your new order.

Thank you, very much. I googled his name along with model 19, and got some better results. Along with the excerpt from the book you mentioned. Interesting history, nothing Earth shattering, but good to know how the model came to be.

Thanks again.
