Who does good DLC?

You would need to disassemble the knife. And I don't know what it would do to anything like a detent ball. If the titanium lock bar has a steel insert at the lock face, I don't know what that would do either.

That being said, DLC coating is a vacuum vapor disposition process. (Means it takes lots of expensive equipment.) I think you'd have to look up one of the big processors who performs that type of coating process. I don't know if they would take a one-off order. No little guys exist as far as I know.

Why would anyone want to hide Ti. It won't rust and won't corrode during normal knife use.

Search the web for Wayofknife

They offer the service but they send it out to a third party. I think most places that will do it are not going to have quick turnaround time because they won’t do just one knife, they will wait until they have enough parts to do a whole batch, to make it worth while.

Disassembly is no issue. The lock face with be re-carbidized after coating as not to slip. The detent ball should be fine but the detent hole could always be opened up a bit if needed to make up for the coating. I agree that the biggest challenge is getting someone to do a one-off order. Maybe I'll just DLC all my things?
