I've been thinking about having one of my regular pieces (AFCK) modified. I'm a little bored with the G-10, and I'd really like to see some sweet ironwood or cocobolo scales on it. I know there are people out there who do special modifications like this, i just don't know who

I've seen some stuff from Frank Recupero, but he is a little out of my price range at the moment

Any other folks out there?

Thanks!

For an AFCK, there's nobody better than bladeforums member Frank Recupero

His work is really not expensive. I don't think you'll find anyone in his league for anything significantly less. Of course, as with anything custom, prices vary considerably depending on what you want. If you don't want the full-up file job, I'm sure it'll be less, but it would be shame to let a knife pass through Frank's shop without at least a bit of file work.

I saw a great quote the other day, a fellow who talked about growing up poor and said, "My daddy used to say, 'only rich folks can afford cheap things'." He's right. If you're gonna get it done, get it done right so that you'll have a knife you'll proudly enjoy for many years instead of one that you'll just replace with something better when you get a bit more money down the line.
