I'm at the point I am considering getting two knives mirror polished or fairly close to mirror. I have done my best but want a better result. I mean polishing the whole blade for aesthetic effects (not the blade edge).
Does anyone know of who I can contact and check prices for this service?
Thanks much.

Just get a rubber block and a whole stack of Wet or Dry in every grit and work through the progression. Wet.

yah . . . takes like for ever.
I've done a few that way though. Works.
Somebody 'll be along and suggest one of the Pros here.

Thanks. I might try doing it like that but concerned about not getting it quite right. I should practice on a inexpensive knife.

I did this with sandpaper a few years back... (and I have no idea what I'm doing). :)

(Automotive sandpaper from an auto parts store... think up to 2500g). I was going to finish it off with some polish... but never got around to it.

I'd suggest contacting Josh at Razor Edge Knives. He does many other things in addition to sharpening and his work is first-rate.

Thanks Dale, but I don't do mirror polishing of blades, I only do edges at this time it can take upwards of 40 hrs to do a mirror polished blade the right way....Hope you find someone but I doubt anyone provides this as a service as it's just not economical.

Brave people. That's who.

The problem with doing a mirror polish is that it either takes forever or is dangerous. On a large knife, with a large handle it's not so bad, but polishers like to snag little knives and hurl them across the room, or back into your chest in one unfortunate incident. It's just not worth it.

The alternative is a hand rubbed mirror which takes too long to be cost effective. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd have to charge several hundred dollars to do a single, small knife considering not only the time it takes to do it, but the delay it would cause for other customers.

That looks great and now I want some curry. Thanks.

what you need to do is find someone with this new machine.

its expensive but cuts down mirror polishing to a shorter time and safer. this makes the initial investment more but should pay for itself over time by saving you time on mirror polishing. where as few offer mirror polishing due to the dangers and time consumption. or at least that's the way I perceive it, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Stunning RW. Wish we could see photobucket pics, couldn't they have at least grandfathered existing materials?
