Its a stupid question, but its just something I've wanted to know for a long time. Who fixes up your hairdo? Who cuts your hair? Who waxes your thinking cap?

I've had my hair done a few times by the Navy base, it was nice but not what i wanted. So I've cut my hair all my life. Is this natural, does anyone else do this? I've personally never known someone to "style" their own head carpet.

My hair, Like Samson's, has not been cut in years. I have a little motorized trimmer that I run around the edges every now and then.

Several years ago, after not having my hair cut for maybe 15 years, I became involved in some major litigation and had to be in court frequently so I had to have my hair cut short and neat. Every few weeks, I was at a high-end salon for a fancy haircut. It looked great; everyone said so. And I hated it. As soon as that was done... and WON!, I went straight back to my ponytail. It feels good to have won... and good to have my hair back.

The last time I paid a barber to cut my hair was in 1980. My girlfriend cuts it for me once in a great while, but mostly I do it myself. I don't have enough hair to not feel robbed at what barbers charge.

I go to the local barber. Talk guns, local politics and his health (he is a pretty old guy). For $5 he trims what little hair I have and my goatee and mustache. When he retires, I'll just get clippers and do it myself, but for now, its a Saturday morning tradition (not every week).

From head to toe, the last thing you'll see on me, is Metro. :D

I cut my own... Bought one of those Wahl kits and it works great. All I ever got was a buzz cut anyway for what little hair I have.... Got tired of paying 10-12 bucks for two minutes work.

When I was a kid, Mom made me get a respectable haircut every fall, just in time to look presentable for school pictures. Since then, every few years I get my golden flowing locks hacked off for free, because I donate 'em to an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients. Other than that, I've rocked the shaggy long-haired-country-boy look for nearly thirty years now. Chicks dig it :D

My hair grows like a weed. Prefer very short, 4 on the clippers all over, especially in the summer. I just walk into the Walmart barber, get those ladies to scare off whatever monster is on my head at the time. A couple years ago, I did stop in a regular barbershop, and got my hair cut, and beard trimmed. The old timer sold his shop, and his brother up the street did too. Not too many old time barbershops around. It was neat talking with the old guy, he told me about apprenticing after school with his father, who was a barber from the old country (Italy).

I've been cutting my own hair for years and wish I had done it sooner. I use to pay $18 after tip every 2 weeks at this hair salon and half the time I wouldn't be happy with how it looked. When the dissatisfaction became even more frequent I decided one day to just shave my head. As it grew out I experimented with fading the sides. I figured if I messed it up, I'll just shave my head again.

It was then that I realized how easy it was to do a fade and couldn't believe I paid that much money to a lady who couldn't do it right over half the time.

I hate paying $15-$18 for a trim. I buzzed my hair down years ago and have since gone through four sets of Wahl/Sunbeam clippers over the years. At an average of one cut every three weeks, and an average of $25 per clipper, I figure I saved over $5,000 bucks in the past 20 years alone. That's quite a few knives, my friends!

I buzz my head, myself, two or three times a year (when the length just starts to drive me nuts). I remember sitting in a chair getting my hair cut and thinking that the electric clippers couldn't be all THAT expensive, and what they were doing certainly could be done by a blind orangutan so I went and bought my own electric clippers and never looked back.

Well, this has thread has satisfied my curiosity, thanks guys.

I'm past the point for new clippers, they pull more than cut. I've sharpened them several times in the past, but they are starting to get pretty warn. Anyone know of good cutters? Or you guys just buy cheap once a year or so? So far thats what it sounds like you guys are doing.

I comb out my beard and brush my hair, let it down or put up into a ponytail when its warm. The only trimming I do are the split ends that tangle on end of the beard.

Me do me 'do, me do. With Wahl clippers. No.2 on the sides & back and a 4 on the top.
Have done for the last 15years.

So true, I haven't had a haircut in over a year except for just a little trim about every month to clean it up, people ay I look just like Johnny Depp, So I said, WTH people keep saying it Imma go ahead and grow my hair out like his too lol...

I have my mom trim about an inch every few weeks, my hair grows annoyingly fast.
She is free and does a better job than any salons in my area and I have one barber they call "fast Louis" He does a number 1 or 2, shaved or buzzed. nice old guy on the last bit of life. Never asked why he doesn't do more but, 3.50 for a buzz, and his buzz is down to the scalp short, and for an extra 1.50 he will shave and polish you up. He is fast too, my buddy used to go to him all the time and it never took more than 5 minutes for a head and face shave.
I don't like my hair that short though so if I want a decent haircut I go to my mom, the salons around me charge an arm, leg and first born and all the workers are always fresh out of tech school and too busy chatting to their friends and always screw up even the simplest cuts. The cheapest one, fantastic sams, charges 25 plus tax for a trim last time i checked, no styling, coloring or any fancy huha, just a nip on the loose ends.

I'm shave my head bald now and my gilette mach 3 takes care of it all. Before that I had clippers and did it myself.....

I have been balding since 20 but no hairdresser would give me a discount cause there was less hair to cut :)

Realistically I should have got a 50% discount for the last 5 years at least.

through high school i wore the long shaggy look and a few years after. a couple years ago i decided to start keeping my hair short and let it grow out twice to "kinda" long and shaggy. then about 2 years ago i started buzzing my head at home with no guard on, i like the way i look like that with a beard too ha.. but i am now letting my hair grow back, so i can try the shaggy look again.. although im itching to go bald again.

its funny i like being bald even though i have nice thick hair.
