Its a build out model. When the Strider collaboration ended, Buck had about 450 Strider G10 handle sets in inventory so they but a 650 blade on the left over scale. This 650/890 is a more interesting knife than the 890 IMO. I also have a without serration 890. Its also a big ole thing. Just high quality blades all around.

Ed, I haven't seen a 653 in white before. Nice.

Flatlander, I bought the 653 on the bay and it was covered with paint and was as sharp as a butter knife. I took some paint remover to the paint and every once and a while put my Lansky to work. It now has an edge but no hair cutter.

Ed, you did a good job with that then...intersting looks.

Yep, I got my first Hawk, the Black on Black 650 with the use marks and I'm hooked.
The rubber handles have a superb feel. Confortable with enough grippy for confidence.

I would love to see that handle on a camp style knife. What I'm thinking about is something close to a 121 blade in profile but maybe a little wider and longer. That would be the cat's meow for dicing up tatters and onions for a camp stew. There I go making unsolicitated suggestions again.

I have to go 50-50. not a big fan of serated blades and dont care for tanto at all. Other are really cool though.

Yep I like the big Bucks too...Just got my 651 'Pig Stic' back from my son Richard.....But Dave has my 'Bay' trophy... a 653 tanto serrated $2.25 $4.00 shipping... A Buck 'Best Buy'....

I like the Hawks, but I'm not to keen on the coated blades. I like the plain blades much better.

Here's an 890/650 I picked up last Saturday at the OKCA Knife Show in Eugene. Had the pleasure of meeting Chuck, Joe H., and the other great guys at the table.

Picked up a couple of other knives too, I'll post some photos in a new thread.
