Who else carries a stone?

Am I weird, or does anyone else carry a stone with them? I keep a 1x3 with me in my FL pocket and my peanut in my FR pocket.

When I was a teen I carried a zipper-sided wallet that I called my "Be Prepared Kit". It was gutted out and held all my survival gear. That included a shortened piece of file with a polyfilament wrap handle and a small stone. I don't carry that anymore, but sometimes I carry a credit card diamond hone in my wallet or some Wet or Dry paper in my checkbook. I have also carried a diamond rod sharpener that fit in a pen body.

On a different note I sometimes pick up and carry a couple tennis ball sized rocks if I don't like the looks of some strangers. They can make a great surprise for breaking up an attack.

I have a little 1"x3" Ez-Lap diamond stone in a leather case. I don't always carry it, I probably should more.
It would definitely go in the back if I was heading into the wilderness though.

Lol also pretty easy to explain away or dispose of...kinda like carrying a stick in the woods.

While I don't carry a stone with me, I took to jackknife's method of carrying around a cut-down Eze-Lap Model L in the wallet. However, I took it a bit further and carry not one, but four cut-down Model L's, from coarse all the way to extra-fine. It keeps me busy when I'm bored.

I've been carrying a pair of double sided DMT Diafolds in my back pocket for years.

I have gone to convex edges on most field knives and carry a small leather strop on a piece of paint stick and a couple pieces of wet or dry sandpaper to lay over the leather for more aggressive work.

You can buy one here or Video 11 (the last one) on that page shows how to make one yourself.

The strop and a couple pieces of paper are a lot smaller and lighter then any stone.

I have also sharpened on rocks, concrete, tile, paper, brick, glass, etc. and stropped on various things like cardboard, paper, cloth, wood, and of course leather (strop leather, shoes, belts, the side of my hand), etc. loaded with things like diamond paste, CrO, Mag wheel or metal polish, rubbing compound, etc.

They all work to some degree. Stropping with Mother's mag wheel polish or metal polish like Flitz works very well on paper, or cardboard.

I've never touched up a knife "in the field", I usually have atleast 4blades on me when I go out, if I do need to touchup a knife, I can use the diamond file on my LM wave.

You mean there are people who do not EDC a sharpening stone

Got a DC3 from Fallkniven a month or so ago. It's a bit heavy but the stone of choice this month

What do I need a sharpening stone for? If my knife ever gets dull (has never happened) during the day, I'll just use the other one I carry. :D

When I go away on a longer trip, I carry a DMT Mini sharp in Fine.
It folds back on itself and has a large ring for a key chain

I carry a dog bone style fine ceramic rod with me all the time.

I've carried a 1x3 Norton medium stone for years. It works great for quick touchups on the fly, especially at work when my chisel eats a finish nail.

Yeah, my dad mailed me a pile of cheap Sears stones. they work pretty good for a quicky touch-up.
I carry a smooth steel in the woods back home, or a hard Arkansas in my pocket.
