Who else keeps a pry bar in their BOB?

We're always reading about the need for massive fixed blades that can be used for any task... Personally, I long ago added a 14" pry bar to the emergency pack I keep in my car. Less than $10 will buy one that's far more effective at prying than any knife. And it frees you to optimize your knives for cutting and chopping duties.

I recognize that weight and bulk requirements for carried gear are very different from those for vehicle gear, but most of us expect to have a vehicle nearby, at least in the early phases of an emergency.

Lately I've been carrying a 6" Estwing tack puller with my multi tool. Cost $4 at my local hardware store, is small and easily carried, sometimes more useful than the multi tool.

I have two 24" prybars at home, with one next to my bed. If I need portability I also have a 21" beta Ti crowbar that I can stick in my BOB. In the car I keep a BK&T TacTool. I've never done more than light prying with any of my knives.

I've got a 10" crowbar that came with a toolkit I got years ago that I've put in the BOB.

Interestingly enough, a friend of mine was astonished to see the little crowbar when I was showing him my kit... according to him, they no longer make short crowbars, just flat nail-puller type things.... has anyone else heard of this?

The one I have is just like a regular crowbar, but it's only a foot long. Round steel, etc, etc...

I have a cat's paw wrecking bar in my BOB, and a full size GB crowbar in my car BOB.

My local Home Depot and Lowe's both have fine selection of small crowbars. Your friend must be looking in the wrong places.

I am equipped exactly like shpshooter above..small craftsman thin pryer and a big gooseneck in car.

I have one in the car, and when I worked in a high-rise, kept a crow-bar in my office (with it, I could have knocked holes in the walls if needed).

I have a titanium (non-sparking) straight prybar in my car kit, in case I have to get someone out of a wreck and there's gasoline all over the place. I EDC a Latshaw Tool pocketwrench II in my rear jeans pocket. I also carry a Stanley Wonder Bar II Pry Bar in the nylon briefcase I take to the office every day. Don't know about the rest of you folks, but I find I need to poke, prod, and pry many more times a day than I need to cut.
