I now have 3 knives in DC finish and the more of them I get the more I like it!!!

I almost prefer it to satin.

I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.

Feel free to add your own pics of this awesome finish.

All I have is the Park Ranger in it- and I LOVE IT! My HOGB8 War Feather will be coming in DC - I want to add this finish to others in the future.

And btw, when you need my address to send that Crusader to just let me know :D ---- I'd have to put that under glass for a while... jeez that's beautiful.... :(

Thanks, it may be my new favorite blade.

Lately when I order my knives in pairs I have been ordering one in DC and one in Satin when available. The next knives in this finish that I have comming will be a Hog Badger as well as a Whiskey Warden both with maroon micarta!!! I am looking forward to both of them. Especially the HOG BADGER!!!!!!!!!

Very nice collection! DC finish looks great, but I'm actually not a fan as a user finish. It's basically like opening up all of the pores on the steel and begging for rust. I'm sure if you always keep it very well oiled it should be okay, but sometimes I get my knives wet and don't oil them right away. On the plus side if you have a blast cabinet it's very easy to get back to the same finish if you happen stain it or scratch it up.

Congrats on the Crusader! Mine's in my top 3 Busse for sure.

I just have 1 in DCBB right now, but I also ordered my War Feather and a Whiskey Warden in it so more is on the way. Probably in about "2 weeks" ;):D

This is what I have read and been told for years. Busse's DC is so smooth it should fair better than any stripped blade. If you scratch it, it looks like satin underneath. I only have 1 blade in DC, but I have not oiled it or stored it out of the sheath to test this and no rust yet. Has anyone any actual experience with a DC blade rusting?

I've got a SWATmandu in DC finish, that has been carried and used. I haven't babied it. If I get it wet, I wipe it off, don't sheath it dirty. I have not experienced any rust or corrosion with it. I love DC, and when it has been offered vs. satin or CF, I've gotten DC. Until I run across a problem with it, that is what I'll default to, over even the satin. If BIG was offered (which some of the CF photos almost look like a BIG finish), I might turn to that instead of DC. I don't, off the top of my head, recall DC being offered in the same knife as CF, though. But I could easily be misremembering.

No first hand experience, just what I have heard, but I have seen pics in the past. As I said, I'm sure if it's kept well oiled I would guess it wouldn't be an issue, it might even hold oil better than a more polished blade. In regards to being better than a stripped blade that would definitely depend on the strip job. If any decarb is left after stripping it will rust very quickly, but not if it is all removed properly. If I had any DC Busse's I'd leave it outside to test, but I don't. Perhaps someone will have one at the INFI camping trip that's coming up later this month.

Ain't THAT they truth!!! The SAR5 that I had I could not keep from rusting (because I couldn't get all the decarb off until I got it bead blasted). Since then, not one BIT of rust. But I haven't had a chance to get proper pants for it and carry it. It just gets used a little around the house.

I've had quite a few double cut knives come through my hands and I agree its by far my favorite finish treatment.

I live in S. Louisiana and I have had a BBDC develop some superficial oxidation just sitting around house - I sand papered it almost to satin and there are some residual stains and no more oxidation. I have others where this has never been an issue with some being users. I tend to rub down with raw coconut oil if I have used them and they might be used for food prep, and regular knife-type lubes if they are not likely to see cooking duty.

My elmax steak knife with BBDC also stains easily (although does not rust)...

Would mineral oil be a good oil to leave a light amount on the blade and be good for food prep?

I like it alot on my Park Ranger, I thought it was called Busse Industrial grade double cut finish.
I'm pretty sure there have been different versions of the double cut (DC) finish. The original was simply referred to as DCBB, or just DC. This is a very clean finish – no machine marks exist on the bead blasted (BB) areas.

I seem to remember a CF finish that was also bead blasted; I think this could have some light machine marks.

I was not aware of the BIG DC finish, but it does not surprise me.
