Who else likes grappling hooks?

I use a salmon snagging hook to pull plastic bags out of trees at my house.

Cougar Allen, back when George Custer was a butter bar, our Army MP unit had grappling hooks for body recovery from waterways..only one I was involved with was for a dependent child who drowned in a river. We did not recover his body which ultimately floated to the surface downstream some time later.

I have much respect for people who search/recover accident victims..can be very grim work.

Best.

Another cool & useful idea.

Oh I never said I use them just that I have and love them, although I did once retreve ak strangers keys from a storm drain with my countycomm one.

Back when I had my fishing boat, I used to carry a grappling hook whenever I ventured into the upper Niagara River. The concern was that a breakdown would find me heading downstream in a hurry (there is a pretty good current in most parts of the river) and any sections of rocky bottom won't take a normal anchor very well. Also, near shore were many docks with railings etc., things that could be grappled easily. Never had to use it, and my fears were mostly irrational anyway, but that's what I did. For the record, it was a lot bigger than the County Comm ones.
