Ive now seen a Sebenza and A Strider with Framelocks. These knives are INFREAKINCREDIBLE......Sadly they are also freakin expensive!!!!! Any one know of another make of tough knife thats a framelock for say..........$100 or so......... Id like to try out a framelock I think! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!! :)

Darrel Ralph makes excellent but expensive custom framelocks. Fortunately, he has also teamed up with Camillus to make the EDC, CUDA Maxx, Aftermath, and Dominator, all framelocks. The last three are more expensive, because they are large and use titanium scales. But check out the EDC in 420HC or, better, 154-CM -- or D2 if you can find one of that special run.

Prodo:
camillus dominator, microtech mini socom elite, benchmade pinnacle, kershaw chive n leek, buck mayo TNT

I've included the dominator and buck mayo TNT as they can be found at around $100-120 in the aftermarket

customs:
paul duncan - sometimes you can find them in the aftermarket for under $175

The Kershaw Vapor and the Outdooredge Paragee also have framelock.
They are cheap and seems good value for the money.

I think that S&W have a framelock that have very good reviews here in BF, but I can't remember the model... :)

The Benchmade 630 Skirmish is a framelock; I think it's the first one they've made.

John Greco made framelocks, but he had to quit knife-making for health reasons. However, he may still have some left; he's selling them for $75 each. I have two, and they are very strong. You can check out his site, give him a call, and see if he has any more. His site is: http://www.grecoknives.com
The folding framelocks are on the "knives for $75" page.

Their first one was actually the 750 Pinnacle which has been out of production for a few years now.

I stand (or, rather, sit  ) corrected.

The Benchmade 10300 Monochrome is a frame-lock that falls WAY under the $100 mark...In-fact, you can buy TWO of 'em for about $100.:).

You might be thinking about the all-stainless S&W SWAT Special Tactical, as it's a frame-lock that really is a pretty good one.:).

That's another one :)
But I was talking about these:

As far as I remember, it was designed by Darrel Ralph himself!

Another nice framelock is the SS Cricket, a very cute one :)

People have mentioned both the chive and the cricket, both nice little knives and I have one of each. I don't know if it's chives in general, just my knife or just me but I've noticed that if I happen to squeeze the handle on the chive too hard when I'm using it the frame lock is "squashed" over to one side and I can't release it with my thumb, it's necessary to first put a coin or suchlike in there and move it slightly back to the normal position. Anyone else noticed this?

The other "problem" with framelocks is that if you happen to be left handed you have to find one in which you can get a left handed version. I have my left handed Sebbie on order. :p

I've got a Vapor (junk now), and honestly, it was one of the smoothest, nicest feeling knives I've had. It opened like silk, and the frame lock locks up very nicely. Much better than my Leek. Steel is soft though, and it likes to rust up (bead-blast finish). The Vapor reminds me a lot of the Camillus EDC (or is it the other way around...don't know which came first), which is another fine framelock. Quite possibly the best quality vs price ratio of any knife in its catagory. The Benchmade 10300 Monolock can be had for a meger $35, with a 60Rc hard blade, lifetime warranty and lifetime free sharpening. Not bad for $35.

Yes the Benchmade 10300 Monolock does look very good -

BUT I'm confused by the N690 steel used for the blade -

according to
http://www.canit.se/~griffon/knives/text/steel-designations.html

N690 C: <0.04 Cr: 28-31 Mn: <0.5 Si: <0.5 Ni: 57-63 Cu: <0.5 S: <0.015 Fe: 7-11

This means it's MOSTLY Nickel and not Iron (Fe)

See Crucible's own pdf file designation at:

http://www.cruciblecompaction.com/docs/N690.pdf

Iron is only 7.0 to 11.0%!!!

So I can't see how this stuff can even make a blade, much less 60Rc

Kershaw also makes a limited production run of Random Leeks that are frame locks. Its the Leek body, annodized in black, with a reverse tanto blade made of S30V steel.

I love mine -- there is a new run becoming available from Chesapeake Knife and Tool, for about $100 each.
