I was wondering if any military forces other than the Ghorkas used or issued khukuris?

I have never heard of any other countries military forces ever having kukris, but as DD said police in India, Nepal and Assam had them, plus the many Gurkha security firms throughout the world. The other place I have seen them and could be considered an issue item is the palace guards in Oman have them.

The Chindits used a mixed bag of edged weapons like other special ops units and some of their kukris have been found with a good provenance.
The kukris you see that have the small red, white and blue shield of the CBI Campaigns probably ISN'T one of these. They were made just after the war from authentic kukris as souvenirs.

One of the best examples I have seen belonged to the son of an American soldier who who carried it in 43 & 44 and used it in his yard till 1960. It has a machete type grip secured with brass nuts & bolts that has been applied to an M43 blade. The canvas slip case has been cleaned since it was a mess.

The other kukri type knife used by non-Gurkha troops is referred to as a "Pioneer" model and was made just after WW I thru the late 1920s. It has correct proof and date stamps and has been seen in obscure photos (I still haven't seen one) of British and Indian soldiers carrying them in Assam, Burma and India. Interesting similarities in the grips.

Those bottom two sure do remind me of the few Thai E-Neps I've seen photos of--except for the grips.

Wish there was more information on the E-Neps...There seems to be just about nothing on the 'net.
