Who else...

Not me... I'm happy with the real deal :D

Well, since I can't afford the regular espadas I'm waiting for those. I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a rajah 2 but I prefer the blade shape of the espada. I sure would like an XL.

CM - I've seen a lot of your posts; you've got some great blades!
I'm lookin' at the the new espadas as well, I just hope Cold Steel didn't sacrifice any of the good design characteristics from the original... For example the pivot pin looks smaller on the g10 version = less strength???

This would make a nice brother for my rajah II regardless.

Thanks bruva!

I doubt it will be lacking in the strength department.

I refresh CS's website like 3x a day.

Cannot wait for the g10 espadas and the new voyagers!

BTW.. on strength, I really don't think it sacrifices anything. Any folder's weakest point is going to be the lock, and the triad lock is the best there is.

Also, one other thing, Cold Steel's website lists the NORMAL large espada as having a 3.8mm thick blade

the G10 one is a 4mm blade

Also, the new one will be much more high traction, if the do their G10 on this like they did their Recon 1.

Well then, let's all buy one! (depends on what it will cost in cdn dollars for me from my local dealer)

Also - I've got a spartan lined up for purchase, maybe this wk or next, so I too, love the triad lock.

Btw, I didn't want to start a war by doubting the new g10 models strength, it was more of an observation that the pivot seems to have shrunk a bit compared to the first edition...

Peace to all Cold Steel fans, Czechmate

Send me your Spartan and have it done right!

Hey man, not at all. You are, after all correct.. Cold Steel agrees with you:

Get 90% of the strength with no sacrifice in cutting power and save big bucks

I just think that at the end of the day, for any reasonable expectations of a hard use folding knife, the strength of the g10 and the original espada will not be discernable

 for cold steel fans, the must underrated knife company out there

I think some of the hate comes from pure bitterness and intimidation. They know that there folders that they spent a small fortune on would shatter in doing a quarter of what a tri-ad lock folder is capable of.

Or perhaps the design just doesn't appeal to them?
I don't doubt that the Tri-Ad lock is just fine (as even Cold Steel haters have to give it props), but the overall knives just ain't doing it for me.
And my knives with supposedly inferior locks can handle full-force stabs into trees, so I don't think I need more lock strength.:)
But if Cold Steel made a knife with whatever lock that appealed to me, I'd buy it, even if it didn't cost a fortune!

Too bad CS has the monopoly on that lock. Anyhow, I couldn't stand the handle design of the Spartan so I modded the living dog feces out of it.
