So every time I stop by here I see lots of newcomers. No surprise to me. Becker knives are awesome, this is the best place on the interwebs to stay abreast of new models, special offers, customizing tips, scales and, oh yeah, custom sheaths.
I guess it was about two years ago that we Beckerheads got a shot at the first-run BK-4 re-issue. I bought one, and shortly after getting it, started looking for a custom sheath to dress it up with. Being so close to the release date, there weren't a lot around here yet, so I just started searching for "BK-4 custom sheath" or something similar. One hit went to fleabay and I figured, what the heck, I'll check it out. That was the one! Never heard of the maker, but it looked great, so I went for it. This is what arrived a few days later:
I did an "Unboxing Video" when I got it and uploaded it to YouTube.
While I was waiting for the sheath to get here, I wrote and asked the maker if he had ever heard of BladeForums. Don't remember if he said he'd heard of it or not, but he hadn't registered yet or thought of using the site to sell his wares. I suggested he do both, and helped him find the links to buy a Maker's membership, and within a few weeks after landing here, The 710 was off to the races, and has progressed on to custom scales and his own line of knives (which look awesome to me BTW). I've been super-impressed with his progression and just waiting for an excuse to get another of his creations, so a few weeks back I dropped him a line asking about a sheath for a BK14 I had just acquired, as well as a matching (more or less) sheath for a knife I've had for probably 10 years or more, a CRKT Ryan Plan B. Not long after I sent the inquiry I got a reply from JD saying "Just tell me what you want, it's on the house!" I'm like whaaaaa??? Somehow JD has it in his head that I had gone out of my way by telling him where this place was and helping him get set up and stuff. It was completely selfish though! I wanted to know where to find him because I knew I'd be ordering from him again, but anyway, he worked it out with me to get exactly what I wanted and the result came in just a few hours ago, so here it is. Thanks a ton JD. Everything's perfect!
So the gear is a BK-14, Ryan Plan B, Olight S20 Baton Flashlight, two Tek-Loks and two brand-spankin' new hybrid Kydex inners/leather outers The 710 sheaths.
Thanks again JD, oh, and thanks for the T-shirt too! Anybody who hasn't yet, show his work some love!
