I've been trimming my beard with my hair clippers, but I'm thinking a specific trimmer might be more precise. Anybody have any expereince or recommendations?

I do. Wahl Groomsman rechargeable. Only drawback is every ten years a new battery has to be soldered in which is kind of a pain.

My first one (still using it) is a cheapo rechargable Conair GMT 180, lots of attachments and extra goodies. Also got great service from their hotline for new attachments when one broke. I keep my beard pretty short and it works fine for that, don't know how it would serve maintaining a longer beard style .

After a lot of reading around I picked up a Norelco T990. Nice unit.

I've got a remington model that works pretty well. Of course, now that I decided not to grow a beard again, it's just sitting there...

I have the Wahl groomsman as well,I am very happy with the performance and batterey life.

Had a Whal Groomsman , battery went dead, but was a good trimmer. Now have a Remington, excellent except the attachment clips are crap..and can't find local access to replacements

I have a rechargable Scherna that is ok for those unique styles, but I would always go for a mains/rechargable wahl or remington as if the battery is dead, you can still use mains.
