Not too many around, I was wondering who has and what you like/dislike about it. #885, not the mini. thanks.

I have one of the first run. The button was a pain to work, but I got it loosened after the open and close drill for several hours. The blade takes and holds an excellent edge. Its not a prybar, but a good cutter. The clip provides a tight grip and is really too tight for pocket use.MHO. I like to clip it to my cold weather overalls. Currently it is carried in a sheath.

I bought one, used it for about a week and took it back for a refund. The knife opened nice and easy. I liked the size and the looks of it but the handle on one side moved on it because it hadn't been put on that well. I wanted to replace it but they didn't have another one.

I have 2 and gave another to a friend as a gift. Tough little knife. I believe its a discontinued item. The ATS34 and Bos heat treat let it hold a good edge. I use a leather strop to bring the edge back. Works well. No problems with lock up. Very solid. Love the G10 handle, the light weight, and the blade length. I removed the clip from mine. It's so light, I just drop it in my pocket. It's one of my EDC's.

My only beef is the button release. It's stiff, awkward, and requires contact with the tip of your finger to push it down far enough to release the blade. For me, it's a two hand operation. Definitely not going to disengage accidently.

I picked mine up for around $60, I think.

I bought a newTaclite 885 recently. I really like it.

When the Taclite first came out a few years ago, I looked at it and, while I found it interesting, the blade pattern just didn't appeal to me at the time.
Also, there was a problem with the lock-up on some of the early ones, including the Taclite that I looked at in the store, which put me off as well. This problem was noted by Buck and subsequently corrected.

But, I came across an 885 recently in a local store and bought it. Now, I really like the knife. I'd buy a second one if I could find one locally; the one I bought was the last one in the store (Lebaron's).

My Taclite is quite well put together, no problem there.
The lock release on mine is not a problem, but I can see how others might it a little awkward. It does require a little more dexterity than a regular liner lock to release, but then it provides a little more security against accidental release. It works just fine for me.

The Taclite reminds of a Sebenza, the narrow clip-point model, both the handle and the blade. Almost like a copy, from the pictures of Sebenzas that I've seen. I wonder about that.

All-in-all, the Taclite is a sturdy well-made and designed knife that's well worth buying. Too bad Buck stopped making them.

The handles are thinner than on the Striders. They are well fitted to the hand and are not rough at all. Sorry so long to answer, I travel and I can only get online spuratticly.
