These look neat, but are they any good? I thought one might be a good supplement to a small portable tool kit.

Hi,

I have the ByrdWrench and find it an interesting part of my M-T collection. While it is quite different from the conventional plier-based multi, it works well. We are likely to see lots of variations in the future ( Look at the CRKT Guppie and Zilla).

As to the comment about being "pricey", I'd offer that this is a complex tool to produce in a way that it works well. This costs money, regardless of whether it comes from China or not. That is the reason Spyderco dropped the original SpyderWrench. I have some 45 Byrd knives and find them outstanding value for the money. I feel the ByrdWrench offers the same.

Give this a good look. I think you may see something unique in this M-T.

Cheers - Joe

Are they good, as in quality, yes. Will it be usefull to you, that's another question that only you can answer. Personally I find an adjustable wrench that only opens to 1/2" too small for my needs, and I need needle nose pliers more often than slip joint pliers. YMMV

Would this make a good compliment to a normal multi? I was tighting the anchor rig on my canoe last Sat while I was fishing. It's a u-bolt mounted by a clamp thats is held on the canoe with a nut and bolt. I needed my gerber, and a no name multi to get it tightened. Maybe the byrd would work well as a compliment.

To expensive for me tho.
