Who has a Modified Tanto Ka-Bar?

I have one. great knife when ya find one on sale. I like it, but I like most tanto type blade shapes in general so I'm biased.

I like the blade design/size, but I wish they’d offer it with a leather sheath and stacked handle. When I think Kabar, I don’t think synthetic materials.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat if it were dressed out in leather like you describe.

Guess I'll have to be satisfied with the Space Force edition until then.

So , stacked leather is actually functionally superior or more of an aesthetic / appearance factor ?

I would think the synthetic would be cheaper and more durable ? o_O

I have one. It's great. Perfect bevels, feels amazing in the hand. Deadly bladeshape. Sheath is good.

It's slim and lightweight for its size. It's something I'd carry to combat, no questions.

It lives in the safe though.

I'm thinking about getting one, and replacing the guard with brass, stripping it, and adding the stacked leather handles.... would be a fun project. And would look Super Cool!

That would be awesome. The blade shape is great, and I keep thinking how nice it would look if it got the deluxe treatment sort of like the special military models Ontario put out years ago -

Yes, the synthetic would be more durable for sure... in my book the stacked leather would be completely aesthetic and somewhat nostalgic.

T tltt that treatment would make it a home run.

I could have sworn that I saw a picture of a stacked leather handled version when they released it, but maybe I just assumed that because it was KaBar.

I really like the looks of it, but agree a leather handle would be nicer. Is the swedge sharpened, or just the main bevel?

Black/black/black is of course more durable, but feels cheaper to me and IMO is boring to look at.

I like the blade shape better than the original.

I prefer the full tang of the bk5 over the through tang of the kabar design. Though the bk5 is a larger knife.....the bk15 is more comparable.

But if you like it, it's a kabar and worth more than it costs.

Could someone explain how that's a modified tanto? Isn't it just a straight back with normal point?
