They use tough carbon steel, heavy duty choppers...the Aranyik Youtube channel has a lot of heavy duty test vids of them if you wanna see what they can do, including some tests that are way beyond regular use of a knife.
My buddy lived in Thailand for a few years, and brought us each back one. I love mine, didn't come with a razor sharp edge but has enough to chop with. I wish they had a sheath there but they did not. I still have to get one made. There in country, he paid a whopping total of 12 dollars for three of them.
{e}bay has them for like 50 dollars, I also sent a message to the guy who owns does the main business for Aranyik and he said the preorders would be starting at 100 but they might be new models or such
I bought one via Amazon for about $45 including shipping from Thailand. No sheath, made my own. A very solid tool, somewhere between a machete and a hatchet. Not too heavy, and came sharp (but of course I touched it up). Basically a kukri. Seems very well made, but finished as per expectations--3rd World usuable, not fancy polish.
