With the recent thread on the HSN here, who has ever purchased a knife from this show???

Hee hee - nobody wants to admit it, Rev. Well, I did, about 5 yrs. ago. Promptly sent'em back for a refund...no biggie. I think I was drink'in pretty good that night, but that's no excuse.:o :D

Nah, they p!ss me off just offering the junk:mad:
It's really is a shame that they don't offer better
quality when they can.

I've kinda wondered what would happen if Camillus
or Buck etc. would hook up with HSN to sell MORE
good knives. My guess that in time the junk market
would dry up.

Rev, that question was a joke right?:D I kind of wish I could have bought the Navy Seal knife, cause it looked like it could take a beating.:barf:

I'll 'fess up! It might be good therapy instead of going to the 'shrink'! About 3 years ago I happened to be up at 3am - couldn't sleep - turned on the TV, flickin' through the channels when I see these 2 guys selling batches of knives. I definitely did not know what I know now & I succumbed to a deal I couldn't pass up! If I remember correctly it was a $49.95 six pack of Bowies! I betcha if I looked hard enough around my house, I could find those Pakistani beauties somewhere. I was using them as paper weights until one of them broke! Now, rev_jch, if you 'chortle' & 'snicker' too loudly, I'll have to demand that you send back the Osprey 'pivot key'!:D :D I'll try to see if I can post a pix of them if I find 'em. I'd like to see some pixs of what other's bought; come on! confess! I still like to 'catch' that HSN show along with a couple others that are out there just for laughs! I'm hoping to see some blood spilt when they 'swing' those swords around!

Not at the infamous 99 knives for $99 price point they can't.

Never. From what I've seen it appears that their primary market, at least for the big batches, is not knife "collectors" or users, but knife "dealers". They always emphasize "Now I've seen these in the stores for $10..." and then "...but we're selling them to you for less than $2 a frame!"...

I'd rather not have a knife at all than to have one from HSN or the Shop At Home Network.

No matter what there's always going to be some dumba$$ out there who will insist that his $2.00 is as good as a $100 knife, and it can do it better because he paid less for it.......
I know, there are a couple of TOTAL Sheeple/losers at work that SWEAR by their wannabe copycat junk. Look around where you work, you'll know these guys right away because they let their knives ride really high out of there pockets. One doofus clips his knife on the outside.

Well, I found 5 of the 6 Pakistan wonders. Now don't crucify me - I admit I didn't know anything about knives when this happened and it happened at 3am. How was I to know surgical steel wasn't the best knife steel there ever was? And with names like Alamo Defender, Phantom Bowie, Texas Bowie, Rams Head Bowie and Huntings Knife? how could I go wrong? And one of the guys 'hawking' them must have been a direct descendent of Daniel Boone - he knew his 'stuff' about knives! I feel so much better with getting this off my chest! Whew!:D :D :D

Well, I personally have always bought good quality knives. Nothing fancy, but well known brands like Victorinox, Buck and Spyderco. But I have a good friend, a law enforcement officer, who buys nothing but crap. His favorite knife is a Delica knockoff with a combo blade. He buys them at the gun shows for a couple of dollars each and carries them for 6 months or so and then throws them away. He keeps at least one extra and times it so that he never runs out. He carries them everywhere; on duty or off. For him, it's a good system. He always has a fairly sharp knife, he never has to sharpen a knife, and he only spends about $10 per year. I've tried to talk him into getting a Spyderco but he just doesn't care. So, while people like us, who spend time on a knife forum, may look down on those POS knives, there are a lot of people who can't even tell the difference between a Spyderco Delica and a POS knockoff Delica.

"Hi my name is Clydetz, and I was a HSN shopper."
The first step was realizing you had a problem. You are gonna be o.k.:p :D

Clydetz,

First I want to thank you for helping me with the pivot key, it is so much appreciated (thank you for your generosity!!!)!!!! :) :D :) , second I must admit about three years ago, I bought what I think may be the alamo defender. Im not sure, I did not by it from the HSN, but I did buy it from Smoky mountain. It had really chessey multi-colored wood handles, the blade said solingen (but it could have been solingen china, as many of you know that supposedly there is a city in china that named itself solingen to try to cash in on a reputation, Ive never verfied this though, has anyone?). The blade was nothing great, and the handle was "miss-shaped-aligned-crooked, guard too! ect. I believe it may have had frosts name on it? or the box did anyway, or did it? now when you think about it, if frost marks their knives which are nothing great, and they do not mark some of their others...what does that say???? well I did send that chessey bowie back shortly after receiving it, so although I did not buy if from the HSN....well.....:(

Clydetz,
one of them broke using it as a paperweight? that one should have come with a warning label!!!! Well at least you can talk about it though!!! I wonder if there is anyone else who would confess about the HSN???
