I have a small Seb which I love, but I'd like something more individualized. I'm hesitating between selling it and upgrading to a small Seb with design, or getting this one customized by someone else. Do people have experience doing that? I know Mr. Mayo did that on a couple of pieces, though I doubt he would do that regularly.

Thanks,

JD

I just got back my large left hand Sebenza that was customized by Tom. He is still doing it. E-mail him for the details. He does a very good job. I am very pleased with mine. The turn around time is a couple weeks. I'm thinking of sending him a couple of my small Sebenzas. Do it. You won't regret it.:D  ;) :)

I second contacting Tom Mayo, He did an excellent job on my Lrg. Sebbie. And I mean EXCELENT!! I must have been lucky, I dropped my knife in the mail on a Monday and a package was waiting for me the following Tuesday:)

Howdy!

To what extent does he customize them? I have a couple of Large Sebs that would love to see the big Island......

He puts holes in the handles, bead blasts the handles and the blade, puts double thumblugs on (flat ones not the pointy ones that CRK uses), sharpens up the blade and makes the action smoother. Given the fact that he is not taking orders, I think that this is the best way to get a knife with the "Mayo" touch. He takes a great knife and makes it better. Cost is reasonable, turnover quick. You can also give him an idea of the hole pattern that you want and will do his best to accommodate you. And he anodizes the handle.  ;) :p

My scanning skills leave a lot to be desired, I had a gold membership but it lasped, Spark didn't send me a renewal notice so I need to take care of that. I will scan it and e-mail it to you.
