Well I just did at the nyc blade show.

They did not have any for sale but a friendly guy at the strider table happened to have his with him and was nice enough to let me hold it.

I have to admit it was like no other folder I have ever seen.

I am not sure what to make of it other than the fact that I really want one.

I choose not to post this in the strider forum because I wanted to hear opinions from all who read the forums.

Well what do you think?

god bless

I have an AR and i am waiting for my GB to be delivered. Great knives ! Definately hardcore tools.

Never handled a strider, wouldn't mind doing so.

For whatever my opinions worth, the "camouflage" blade coating looks really ugly, just my opinion.

It's a handful, that's for sure(that's a good thing:)). I really like the blade shape, the heft, the lock up-- seems rock solid, and the sheath design is excellent. It should be an excellent overall value.

YoungCutter, just so you know ,they make um without the tiger stripe coating also.

god bless

LLNYC,
I'll recommend the Strider AR or GB to anyone who's looking for a tough-as-nails folder. I prefer that they at least be aware that these folders have a bit more heft than most, but inasmuch as you've already handled one, I can assure that the feel of quality is no illusion. :)

I've held both the AR and GB and it would take me awhile to get used to them closed. Possibly the only folders you could chop with.

i have habdled the production buck strider folder w/spearpoint blade, and it was heavy duty for sure ,i bet 2X as thick as my BM 975SBT, w/about the same blade length - i just though it was too thick for me, but would be great if ya need a really really really really heavy duty folder imho......but too thick for me at this point in time.....

I've handled the AR and am saving up for a GB.If you like big heavy duty folders, Strider's folders are to die for.

I've never handled one. I don't have a need for a knife like that and so no interest. In fact it's the total opposite of the direction I'm going.

I must admit that I have never handled one. I feel a little foolish because I do like mega folders. I would like to try one and hopefully will be able to do so in the near future.

I haven't handled one yet, and I don't want to until I have the cash to buy one. If I did, I would be forced to sell a lot of knives to buy one :D ... and that I just can't do.

I've handled the AR quite a bit and have one on order. For most applications, it's hard to argue that there's a need for a folder that heavy when a fixed blade would do the job more cheaply and efficiently. However, the PRK will let us carry a concealed folder but not a concealed fixed blade. That was enough of an excuse for me (although I'm sure the quality, uniqueness, and cool factor would have been sufficient in the absence of a "logical" reason to buy one).
