I have been looking into small Bird and Trout type fixed blades lately because I'm thinking of using a small fixed blade for a lot of my coon skinning chores this winter instead of just the customary array of slipjoints I have always used.

This one looks pretty nifty, except for the 6A steel which isn't really so bad.

Who has one or has handled one, and what were your impressions?

I had one briefly that I intended to use for reverse-grip kerambit techniques. The hole was too small for my index finger though.
For the pinky, the hole is just fine.
The knife was exceptionally well made but the sheath was horrid. The finish on the blade is especially nice.

Thanks for the info. Your comment about the sheath reminds me of what I thought the first time I handled one of Columbia River's Carson designed neck knives. I forget which model they called it. The knife was nice, but the sheath was far too big and clunky for a neck knife.

Neither. Those were designed by Ed Halligan, I believe. Columbia River put out a Carson designed neck knife.

Its the F4 and I agree about the sheath. Bulky and not the most comfortable either. Come to think of it I should probably look for it. Don't remember where I put it.
