Who has the UC 970 Talisman???

I am trying to convince him that it is not worth buying and need arguments from people who actually handled that "knife".

The knife is definetly not a user. If you like fantasy pieces or replicas, then why not. I have held it and it is cool to look at. Kit Rea designed it and he is an awsome artist. You should see some of the stuff he has desinged that United has not made.

Well, its not something i would like for myself, me being a stickler for practical function first, then aesthetics.

But then again, I never try to dissuade somebody whose just seen their dream knife. It's inexpensive enough that your friend won't feel too bad if he changes his mind later.

Well 40.00 USD is quite expensive here since people are not willing to spend too much money for knives.

But you are right - if he likes it .... why not. I still think I will convince him to buy something better....

Mike, you are an honest man. These days, you can't hardly get a saleperson to advise a customer honestly even if it means losing a sale. If 1Stop was easier on international orders, i'd check there first everytime i wanted to blow some money on sharp objects. No offense but I've had USPS parcels disappear - probably due to local pilfering.

David, if your friend wants a good, inexpensive knife, try the CRKT line - superb value for money and ideal as a knife for a first time buyer.

David, UC=United Cutlery and everthing I have seen or ordered from UC has been CHEAP and not worth the price to pay for shipping. Most of the knives are made from 420 J2 steel which is just for looks and is not for using. Be a good friend and advise him to buy something else.
