My Tanto LE Umnmzaan just arrived from TNK!

It's a very cool grind, "Lumish" if I can say that. But looking at the blade I am not really sure how I am going to handle sharpening the tip. Not going to stop me from using it though, it's one sweet blade! One thing that suprised me is that the knife feels noticably heavier than my standard Umnum.

So I am wondering, who uses and carries their Tanto Sebbie and Umnum?

How do you like it, and how do you sharpen it?

I carry my tanto Sebenza more than my regular.

I have no problem sharpening it. The main edge is easier than sharpening a blade with a belly, and the forward edge requires little more than touching up the convex grind. A ceramic stone works nicely.

For your tanto Umnumzaan, I suggest you also practice using a strop after fine sandpaper.

Personally, and though I don't own either, I'd prefer the more useful Insingo shape to the Tanto. It looks cool, don't get me wrong, but I'm perfectly happy with my 07 Classic Ironwood right now :D

Insingo is great! I had the large Insingo and it was my favorite Sebenza, but the Umnumzaan is still my favorite CRK knife.

Time will tell how the Tanto and Standard do competing for pocket time...

I've got a TNK tanto 21 and really like it. Being that I've only owned it a couple weeks, it hasn't seen much use yet. But , I've used it to this point for mundane food prep tasks to scoring sheetrock and haven't needed to touch it up other than some light stropping on some cardbord. I do carry it at the firehouse and have every intention of using it when needed as well. I had an tanto Umnumzaan before, but plan on getting the LE tanto from Neil very soon!

I have an Umnumzaan standard blade and really love it.

As far as your tanto and how to sharpen it question....

You have to take it on as if it were two different knives. You can't make one continuous sweep across your sharpening media as you would on a non-tanto grind. I usually start with my course media, work each profile on the one side then do the same on the other. The big difference with the tanto is that you have to re-orient once you move from one profile to the other, that is , the long section and the tip section.

I have a tanto sebbie. I carried it for a bit, then sent it to CRK for some work and spa. I have since put a Barry H handle on it and it has sat in the safe since. I was playing with it awhile ago thinking I should be carrying it.....lol.........As far as a tanto umnumzaan, I want to get one someday when funds are available, OR when my wife allows me to get one which will be never ! Its amazing how my buying has all but ceased since I got married..........lol.

Tanto Umnum in pocket a lot. Great versatile blade. So, yes I do carry a CRK Tanto!

A Tanto Umnumzaan a regular in my EDC rotation, and one of my favorites.
I used to have a regular Umnumzaan, and wasn't crazy about it... at the time I was too used to the small regular Sebenza.
After a few weeks with a 3.5" Hinderer XM18 as an EDC, I picked up another Umnumzaan with the Tanto blade and it grew on me.
It's a great knife, and feels more comfortable in pocket and hand than first impressions... and I really like it's quick deployment compared to my Sebenza.
I am still wondering what I am going to do with it when the time comes for Sharpening... Most likely send it in to Reeve.

rotfl. haha too bad nyef! Just make her buy them for you: fathersday, b-day, knife day (yeah, just see if she falls for that one).

i'd love to get a small tanto zaan!

I have a small NICA tanto that I carry quite a bit. I alternate it with my small CG. I really like the way CRK ground the tip and it is the only tanto folder I ever carry. Once I get my hands on a small insingo, I'll have a nice set of different blades for EDC. I can't wait to get my hands on one!

Got my tanto Seb about 2 weeks ago. Carried it for 10 days before a large trapeze took its' place a couple of days ago. Fantastic knife the tanto Seb. Thanks Chris and Neil.

I had one of the first limited edition tanto Sebenzas--foolishly sold it.

The blade geometry on that knife is perfect for so many applications.

Someday, I hope to have another.
