i got a plain edge coming in a trade. i have held them before and know that for me they have the best grip of the emerson lineup, but how are they for every day tasks?

is the tip strong?

I EDC the 12 and thats about as close to the 13 as one can get with out actually being the 13.
I find it's just fine for everything from stuff about the house to stuff out in the bush.

The point on the 13 while slightily more upsweapt than the 12s is just as strong IMO. It's not a knife
thats made to be babied but treat the tip as you would any other and I don't see you having any problems.

I don't carry a 13 every day but I do own one.

Its a great blade, very useful size, the grip is awesome if your hand is average sized, which mine is.

The tip.... well, mine is needle sharp and I would say that it is at greater risk of snapping than the 12, yes indeed.

However I have had my 13 for going on a couple of years now and I havent managed to break it yet. But I am careful with it.

I wouldn't want to drop it opened on a hard floor, no sir.

If you want a 100% worry free Emerson, I would also consider the 8, 10, 11 or 15. Or the Commander.

Or the tantos of course, I'm just not a big fan of em...

i edc a custom '13 & like it a lot, its pretty similar to a production one, though the '12 is my fav(due to the lock) the '13 is probably #2 as far as productions go.

the '12 and '13 are pretty close as haze said.

I have been carrying the 13 as my EDC for about 7 months now and I have not had a single problem with the knife. The handle is very comfortable and fits good. I am still trying to remember that I can not whip this knife out of my pocket with my hand by the blade because of how it opens.

I had a 13, sent it to Tom Krein to work his magic. I really dig the 13 design the mostest, but I prefer framelocks so I sold it in favor of the 12. If they ever doing a 13 framelock, I'm in!
