Who here has a BK5?

I know I said I would get a BK9 next, but there is something about the Magnum Camp that fascinates me..

What I'm unsure about is what its niche is. I'm sure it can poke and slice, but how does it chop and baton? Ill still get the BK9, but Im looking for a reason to buy this BK5 other than "just because".
 
first - read the passaround thread. :)
then - go buy one. :D

yes, it slices, it dices, it makes julienne fries.
it carves meat, chops veggies, whittles, drills, battons, converts wrist thick dry branches into kindling, and makes fuzzy sticks.
all this with 8" of pointy blade that weighs less than a Campanion.

OTOH, with an Eskabar & a BK9, you can still do all that.
 
No law against owning both. Buy one now, and another in the spring.

There will be some new stuff coming up with me and my circus of guys that will be doing some BK5 stuff, right now, I am working on the BK3 and some interesting videos, I'll have up in a week or so. After that, we move to the BK5.

Whatchoo know about Cookin?

I've been running the "new" BK5 for a month and I will be honest, I've found myself reserving it for slicing (awesome by the bbq) and stabbing (through tarp) duties. I'm sure it CAN chop and baton, but I'm not relying on it for that thank God...if you HAD to, yes. Otherwise, use the tools you got...

You should obviously pick it up, it is an incredibly "fast" knife in hand and something to behold vs meat and veggies...:D

I want a -5 myself. I'm hoping the next Beckerhead 'discount' is at a place I can pick one up!!
