who here has heard of assassins creed

I've heard of it, and even played it, but I didn't really appreciate it until I lived it. Word to the wise: jumping from high buildings into piles of straw is not as foolproof/safe as you might think.

Oooh! Oooh! Me! I've heard of it!

*long pause*

Never played it.

*longer pause*

Don't own a game system.

*crickets*

Yeah.

The games were really good, starting to get redundant with revelations and brotherhood though. Havent played AC3. And are you talking about a real life sword?

Well, assuming you're talking the carbon steel version, it's made in India. You can draw whatever conclusions you want about that, but that suggests to me that it's probably hit or miss with quality and heat treat.

That is not the licensed sword which has been produced by Windlass. At any rate, even the higher price spread should probably be regarded as a light and costume weight sword. windlass generally does ok with heat treat but many blades from them tend to be kind of flexible flyers. This is really of little consequence if regarding the sword as what it is. A prop replica.

The one pictured above is a knock off and probably even less sturdy.

The Windlass should at least hold together somewhat in dry handling and maybe poking light targets. Do not sharpen it and then expect to use it like an axe. Museum Replicas lists them as sold out but other vendors may have one and as shown above, there are plenty of knock offs.

I Luv the franchise just finished A3. A Great story with the Templars and George Washington in the plot line. I loved the French naval boarding axe from the game so I decided to have one made based on the game version. I did the design and rendering myself its being made as we speak:) I'm new to this forum and have been a sword collector but I just discovered knives finally much cheaper. this forum is awesome I already bought a blade from here.

If you hang around here long enough you will discover that pound for pound swords are less expensive... :)

A I think you are right :) I just bought a Swamp Rat M9le costs as much as a few of my swords. But man is it sweet!! I'm hooked now I want a TGLB

I guess it is true that pound per pound, swords are a bargain but once I reach the four figure mark, it seems thatit levels out. It is more like inch for inch in regard to three figure levels and past the rand, there is not much difference until you spend a couple of grand or more for length. however, many makers price per inch.

With being all stocked up with knives, it has been the bargain finds of old swords that get my attention but there ar many very nice swords on the secondary market for less than what I have spent on some knives. I guess I am pretty much stocked up with swords as well but there is always something else out there that tugs on my purse strings. It is really time to rotate out what was once of prime interest but my "oakeshott collection" was built of what I have used and still like.

Last modern sword in was actually the movie sword for Sleepy Hollow. too bad, they are gone again in a flash. I really, really, needed it :) Cousin that with an 18th century sabre for Christmas that cost less than even my expensive knives and less than what very good modern swords cost.

Still, knives.......why do I still stalk old Randall Gilbreath knives (got a chute knife up your sleeve?) smack my lips at such as a Vince Evans tail lock or basic Kevin Cashen drop point hunter. I dunno but as some have written, "Swords are fun!"

Cheers
