Dual lugs, annodized handle, polished blade and an incredible action.

Dave - your pics are fine! They show three very nice... VERY nice!... knives. :D

never really got the whole mayonized thing, looks like just some holes drilled on a drill press. Am i missing the whole magic in a mayonized sebenza? :)

Besides the holes, the scales are colorized, hard to tell in the pix but they are kind of a blued gray.

There dual different thumb studs, handles relieved on the lock side. Mayo edge, and probably most importantly he does some kinda magic on the action and lock, probably 2X more smooth.

Sebenza is a nice knife, but Tom gives it that extra little TLC. AFAIK Tom not doing them anymore. I posted on the wanted section last spring and picked up the one with the lanyard for $385 I think.

The large one originally I picked up used from Smooth Bone, it originally had a mirror finish on the BG42 blade. I sent it back to CRK and they restored it for me, then I sent it to Tom for his treatment.

I have always loved the Mayoized look, but I am ignorant in the process. Does Tom Mayo do them himself, or do you just refer to the look as Mayonized? Also, what color options do you have for the coloring? DaveH - one of them looks like it is black anondized...is it black or just the coloring in the pic?

Also, what does this service cost? I have a small classic Sebbie that I will never get rid of and might as well make completely unique and all mine...

Any advice.

First Tom doesn't to them anymore but you should double check with him, cost was I think $85. He did them himself as far as I know. No color options, it heat anodized. It's not black, it's just poor pix, instead of the light grey like normal, it's more or a dark blue grey.

Tom, in fact, does not do the mod thing anymore. He is concentrating on his custom knives and his design work for Buck.

However, there are some very talented people out there that could mod your knife: Holes, thumb scalops, serrations and ramps, anodizing, tiger striping, etc. You name it, it can be done.

Just an example:

My one and only folder is a large Classic done by Tom just before BLADE '04. He stopped doing them right after that I believe. My hole pattern is different from all pictured, but then again, I removed the clip and put the filler piece in before I sent it to him.

About the only thing I want now is a small Classic with the same treatment, other than that, it's fixed blades all the way. I have a hard time looking at 'unholey' Sebbies now.. LOL Other folders don't even get looked at, custom or production.

BTW, if you want a FB version of the large Classic, the Busse Active Duty is almost the exact duplicate of this blade (size, length, shape) except for thickness (Busse is 3/16") and grind (Great minds and all that?). I carry both at the same time, but the Busse's get rotated. Only have 1 folder, remember? I do carry a FB along with the Sebbie.

Wish I had a pic, but no go with my old puter.

What I really wish is that Tom would offer this service again. I'd buy a small Classic just to match my large. Small was my first choice, but that's not the way it worked out. I'm still happy.

Barry seems to do some amazing work on the scallops. I think the falming was done in Vegas.

BarryH,

Who did the scallops and flames?

Very radical for a Sebie!!

I've done mods on knives for a few years, my favorite subject are Sebenzas. I send the Knives to Las Vegas for the heat treat. Never a problem ;)
