I never was a summer person. Perfect temperatures for me have always been in the 50's and 60's with the occasional excursion above that to go swimming or to just get the experience of all four seasons. These last two brutal winters have changed me though. I got a kayak last September and I love that thing. Something snapped in me this winter, right about the time that I had to start shovelling off my roof. In the middle of the winter I was downloading and listening to tons of island music, mixing Cuba Libres, Margaritas, Dark 'n' Stormies, and wearing Hawaiian shirts in my kitchen. I'm ready for the heat now. Check back with me in July when I'm complaining about how hot it is.

Red Flower and I were out kayaking with the seals at the beginning of April. The hard part is getting outside in the first place, and then the first step into icy water when launching. At first I was rigged for sail, but the wind was very squirrely. After remembering last winter's upset into icy water, I thought better and took down the sail. If I can get Red Flower to make the pics public I can show you my seal buddies.

Edit - here are some pics.

I am. Though I like the change of seasons better than being warm all the time or cold all the time, it really depends on my mood whether I want to be warm, cold, or just right. Making friends with seals, Howard? That sounds like a lot more fun than Inuits had hunting the buggers down with just their feet and a good spear back in the olden days. Ah, I see you live in New York, Wintermute, New York is supposedly only trumped by Russia, Antarctica, and a few other incredibly snowy places, in terms of snowfall peak height. My sympathies for having to deal with lake effect blizzards and all those crazy shenanigans. Peace everyone, I'm out.
