Does anyone have any info on this maker?

My dad just gave me a smallish fixed blade, stag-handled knife made by Sparks for Christmas. Unfortunately, I have to plead ignornance on this gentleman. Can anyone give me any insight into who he is, and what his work is like?

Hi,

Mr. Sparks was a bigtime maker during the 70's. I believe he is out in Idaho. The work I remember of his (pictured in the Guns and Ammo book of Knives) was standard outdoor patterns, but with very clean lines, I remember taking note of his name:)- very nice work.

Ed Fowler wrote a nice article in Blade about him a bit back. He was still making knives a few years back.

HTH:D:).

A nicer guy you will never meet. He was instrumental in starting the Knifemakers Guild, and he still makes great knives.
