Who is getting a Sebenza in December?

I don't mind starting it off as I have a large Sebenza 21 with African Blackwood coming to me on 12/22, just in time for Christmas! I have been awfully good this year:p:) It has been awhile since I've edc'ed a Sebenza bu I'm starting to appreciate the smaller knives again, and yes I do consider the large Sebbie as a small knife:eek: especially when you compare it to the 4" and over blades I normally carry! In recent months I've decided to get a few smaller folders. So far I have picked up a Boker Titan Defender (3.5" blade), a Fallkniven PXL (3.4" blade), and now the CRK Sebenza (3.6" blade). For January I may go with the Umnumzaan.

I've had a couple Sebenza's in the past and also one of the first Umnumzaans to come out, August/September 2008. Of the Sebbies I've had I like the wood inlays the best. Crk stabilizes their woods and I've found that edc'ing one does not cause any problems to the wood. I also love the look of wood and the fact that it gives the handles a tad more width for gripping. I got rid of the Umnumzaan for some reason I can't even remember now!:o I would like to see a wood inlaid Umnumzaan though!

So anyway, who has a Sebenza coming their way for the month of December?

not me... i received 2 sebbies and a mnandi in november though. :)

congrats and welcome back to crk!

I have my 2009 Elder inlay inbound. Heather left a message today and tomorrow I will make payment arrangements.I'm tired of the way my umnum tears up my pockets so I think I'll just stay with the LE's for EDC.

I picked up another LE, so this will put the third LE into my collection. I am very excited

None for me, but if I were to get one, I think the 2009 Box Elder inlay, is just about the nicest looking wood I've ever seen on the Sebenza. It's a real beauty. GL w/it!

i njst got a shadow III. not bad at all, but teh coting is wearing off slightly.

i would like a large 21 with micarta scales and double thumb lugs in yellow or silver. i may get it in January or February if funds permit. if not, it will ahve to wait for the summer.

I ordered a wood inlay Sebenza from CR in October but haven't heard from them. Bought a beautiful limited edition Large Box Elder Inlay from Knife Art instead. Great knife, no wait for delivery. I carry it but I also carry and use a 3.75" Osborne design Benchmark for cutting. It's sharper and just as easy to use. Does anyone know where to buy the lanyard material Reeve's uses on his knives? Thanks

If you contact CRK and ask for the lanyard, they will send you one for free. Great customer service!

I use leather lace material or extra shoe laces for lanyards when I take the Sebenza's apart. You can tie it off and cut it to length if your knot tying skills aren't perfect

Use crazy glue to fuse the ends, too.

I am. I've been budgeting for a large Seb, and some unexpected windfalls let me talk myself into the one I really wanted: a damascus/mammoth bark 21. It's among the most ridiculous, vulgar purchases I've ever made, but I plan to carry & use it for the rest of my life, and have my great-grandkids fighting over it at graveside. So in value-per-day terms it will work itself out.

Or I'll chicken out and sell it. Either way I can't wait until it gets here. :-)

Thanks for the info on the lanyards.

Great idea for the grand-kids fighting over the heirloom CRK knives. I hope my son and the grand kids get mine to pass along to future generations. This will probably happen as long as they get to them before my wife sells them off as used pocket knives. I haven't exactly explained the cost of them to her if you catch my drift. VHH

I just got my first sebenza yesterday. A plain jane large 21. I was suprised at the level of quality and I now see what all the hype was about.

I've got a NIB Sebenza 21 headed my way now, and I'm really hoping it gets here this week:D My first Reeve, and my first foray into nice folders:thumbup:

My December Sebenza arrived! (Cross-post from picture thread...)

The bark looks brown/black in normal light, but is full of deep greens in direct sun. And I hadn't realized that the texture on a damascus blade can be felt as well as seen, or how the pattern seems to move as the blade does.

Now I just need to get over the awe and start cutting stuff with it.

I have a Sebenza coming too. Hopefully it'll be here early next week.

Not exactly what I was meaning to do as I was on the look-out for a light wood or ivory one to buy early next year. Planning to fund that I sold all my unused camping equipment and that went alright until I realised that I had money in PayPal, no way to withdraw it due to a bank account re-registering hassle, and not wanting it sitting there any longer than necessary.

With it coming up to Christmas I didn't want to spend much money, so I was lucky to find a shop which took PayPal and had a knife just over my balance there. It's a large classic micarta with double lugs and polished blade.

It was only £6 - thanks to some camping stoves and cooking stuff :D
