What a writeup!

Kudo's to the Blade Blog for capturing a compelling '60 Minutes' TV story of a hardworking man who happens to be a knifemaker, as well as his other co-workers.

Blade Magazine Blog Story

It's not a feel-good story, but the outcome sure is.

If you haven't seen the show, it's worth watching the 13 minute segment included in the link above. Powerful.

One of our own.

Thanks for posting this, Coop. I caught the tailend of that segment and have been curious since then.

Heartbreaking. I'm glad something good came of the story for Mike.

I saw that earlier today after seeing the link on another forum. It's coll that he got all those orders after the show aired. Hopefully all those orders won't cause deliver problems.

I hadn't seen the 60 Minutes segment but the story sure strikes close to home. I'm not part of an entire community losing their job but mine was part of 500 (at that time, there were thousands more) that were "outsourced" purely for the GREED of senior management.

I spent 26 years of a 30 career in IT to have it yanked out from under me. The only thing that is saving me from financial disaster is that I did not live above my means.

I know many people that lost their jobs and are in danger of losing their homes and lifestyle.

I am glad that the 60 Minutes piece helped Mike.

yesterday the "early show" was at his house so watch for him to be on there. his orders are now up to 250+ now.

I just talked to Micheal on the phone. He called to let me know that he will be on "The Early Show" on CBS, on Friday morning. Knifemakers getting more exposure can only be a good thing for all of us. Micheal is keeping a wonderful perspective on all of this, and even though HE and his family are the ones enduring the "tough times" right now, he constantly speaks of how he hopes this exposure benefits all knifemakers. He keeps his faith first, and I strongly admire that quality.

Like he said him self - One door closes another one opens. -

I wish him and his family all the best. -

Anyone have photos of his knives to post, he might have an eight year back log soon? :D
