So I don't usually use carbon steels but after reading all about the edge retention magic that 52100 has to offer if it's HT properly on here, I ordered a couple 4' lengths of it from Aldo. When I get all the blades ground, I'd like to send them to someone for HT. I don't mind paying to have them HT, but I want them done as good as can be done because I probably won't do anymore when this is all complete. Do you guys know who might be willing to do this for me? Thanks in advance.

Aldo's 52100 is very annealed, so it requires a bit more involved thermal cycling or lengthier soak times to work. I seem to remember reading in Shop Talk that Peter's heat treat has a specific program for this steel. I use a fair bit of it, and it is great stuff. The combination of fine grain and super wear resistance is great. Many stainless or other high alloy steels will hold an edge longer, but they won't get as fine of an edge.

Peters has been doing my last few batches of SS, so if they know how to handle 52100 maybe I'll just use them.
