I enjoy reading spydie wiki--the history of the different models. I have only been paying attention to Spyderco since 07 or so. This got me thinking, other than employees and Sal, who is considered the obie one kenobi of Spyderco? I would think it is "The Deacon" he really seems to know his stuff. Who else gets your vote? Living or passed on?

I would call The Deacon the All-knowing Spydie guru.....I've seen him pull some amazing knowledge out of no where!

The Deacon gets my vote. Yab is also very informative. There are quite a few others too, like Mr. Blonde.

I don't know about Deacon though, he doesn't like the Paramilitary. :D:p

It's nice to be mentioned in such exalted company. :o

Given what I've seen of Spyderco's production history, I'm not sure even Sal would qualify as "all-knowing". There seem to be some things that are just flat unknown. Not too surprising considering their habit of incremental improvement and rolling changes.

Thanks folks.

For Spydero history, my own list would include, in addition to Sal and in no particular order, UK Ken, Mr. Blonde, No Fair, Fairlane, Recoil, Rob Fruehauf, Jurphaas, Peter1960, and a few others. For steel knowledge, Mastiff, yablanowitz, and Ed Schempp.

Lots of great knowledge on the board, I would forward The Deacon & Mr Blonde as authorities on Spyderco history!
