Even in a two man race, eventually the other runner is going to show up and come in second place. The question is, just who makes the second best production Butterfly, next to Benchmade. For me, there are only three countrys that can even make a good knife. USA, Germany, & Japan. Sense Japan has droped out of the race, then it has to be between Bear & Herbertz. The copies are very close though, the Frost looks very much like the Bear, and the Jaguar looks very much like the German made knife. So, who would you vote for? Since I've never heard of the last balisong maker I'd have to go for Jaguar.

My sainted father used to say, "Anything worth doing is worth doing right."

Or, as Ovid said, "Aut non temptaris aut perfice."

I don't often settle for second best in my life. (Though, I do drink Clear Creek Distilery Pear Brandy, which Wine Spectator ranked as only the seventh best brandy in the world. But, it's 1/200 of the cost of the best brandy and still really, really good.)

I've had good results with Bear balisongs. The tantos are off-weight, but their weehawk seems fine. Yes, the handles will eventually break but they'll replace it for you. The handles on the Bears are more durable than the pins on Jags. I've got a couple of re-pinned jags. They're ok too. But, those Benchmade 45s and 42s are where it's at for me.

As a Carpenter, I knew that the right way was always the easy way. Whenever I tried to take a shortcut, it always turned out to be more difficult in the long run. Thanks, JohnR7

I rather prefer Jaguars over the Bears. My Jaguar has lasted me a while without breaking.

Sounds like a defeated attitude to me. My life keeps getting better and better as I draw ever close to God. But I suppose for those who are heading away from Him, their life is going to continue to get worse and worse. At least that has been my observation. IN my eternal quest for Mr. Chow's Bali.. (all 5 minutes of it : ), it seemed almost instinct to go to your site John... I just wanted to note that you had a sweet looking family there
