Who is watching out for us?

Good article. I heard about that. I find it interesting that I have a friend who was busted for misdemeanor posession of marijuana over 15 years ago. The cops found less than a gram of seeds and stems under the seat in his car he didn't even know was there.

This misdemeanor posession charge nearly prevented him from getting his license to practice medicine over 10 years later, and every time he leaves the country on vacation and returns to the US the bust tips off the computer when he comes thru customs and he is pulled aside and searched.

So he's a US citizen. Why exactly is he slated for such scrutiny yet somebody potentially more dangerous is let go?

what I don't understand is why this isn't the lead story in every newspaper and news show in the country. This is very serious. This was released by a congressman not some nut.

Yes, information from a Congressman is always more suspect than from Joe at the Gas Station. (I'm actually on my way to reading the link but had to comment on our Congress!)

That's about the truth :(

OK, read the link. The news is old to me, being the talk of the Fox News channel.

I have no idea why the information about potential 9-11 hijackers was not shared to other agencies. 1999 puts that on Clinton's watch. That may or may not mean anything; I doubt anyone thought the FBI would do anything about it. No one went out of their way to get Bin Laden when he was offerred.

I mostly think this is a witch hunt. Who left the refridgerator door open?

I don't really care. I think we are wide open for attack anyway with our open borders.

I think attacks are coming. We can blame some more folks afterwards.

I think the intrel brouhaha brought about by Senator Robert Torricelli (NJ's greatest shame- oh, until our governor tried to court a man by giving him a domestic security job he was not qualified for) is seriously to blame for the mistakes such as this that allowed 9/11 to occur.
I agree that the CIA should not be investigating U.S. citizens, but "US persons"? Just because you enter the country legally does not mean you are above suspicion. If you are linked to a terrorist group, you should be investigated.
Hollow's anecdote is important- we screen our citizens for drug infractions more thoroughly than we screen our guests for terrorist ties.

We can't screen our 'guests'; they number in the millions and are undocumented.

They are. Canada looks promising for these guys too.

US citizens have numbers and ID- hence, they run screens on us.
It's a case where the good folks take the irritations and the bad guys have few 'limitations'.
