Hey guys,

So I am considering a Spyderco Sage 2. I love everything about the knife but am curious if it's lock bar tip is heat treated, carburized, or anything like that. Thanks in advance for the replies.

Nope, well at least mine is not but it is a few years old so they might have changed it up and started to harden, carbuidzed them. Still a great knife for the price its light and a great slicer for light edc rolls.

Have you used your Sage 2 a lot? How is the lock bar tip holding up?

its worn in a bit there is a shney spot along the lock bar face where it has worn in to about 70% but has not moved from there in a while.

I used mine a lot.

Like, a ole damn lot.

It as been used and abused, and yet, it continued to ask for more. I cut cable ties on aluminum tubing, electrical cords, probably pried (not always as gently as I should have) a coupla times. You know, everything someone with an ounce of judgement wouldn't do to his knife, I did it to the good ole Sage II.

And yet, the lock and the blade remained rock-solid without as much as a little chipping.

I don't know if the lock bar was carbidized, but what I do know, is that, the day I lost it, I lost probably the best knife I ever had.
