Who knows how to read web statistics?

I check my web stats every now and then just to see who's downloading what, linking to pics, etc. Every now and then an anonymous site that is listed as "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" or something shows up. I assume this is a site that maintains anonymity, but I was curious if that's what it means, or what? Is there a way to find out what the site is? I'm pretty sure I know, anyway, but I'm just curious.

Maybe the IP addresses of the viewers are normally resolved to host names and the server couldn't resolve these? Just a guess.
