Who knows how to use a Motorola KVL encryption keyloader?

Hey all, I finally completed my collection of Motorola Saber 2's with DVP Key Variable Loader... problem is, I don't know how to load the encryption keys... does anyone have any experience? or does anyone know where to start to look?

I think you should checkout www.batlabs.com for some good info.

I think you need a key generator device or the software to generate a key and proper cables. I forget, it's been so long. My radios are motorola xts's with a base station with the encryption setup. Got it at union pacific railroad auction.

Why encrypt? Such a big secret tactical op or something? I know its fun but its more trouble than it's worth. I've got 22 xts 5000's I use for family and neighbors in the event of an emergency.

I checked out batlabs, but their instructions are sparse and does not seem to work with my model. I have the KV3014 keyloader and the proper cable and it's asking me to do all sorts of entries beyond those instructed by batlabs. The setup is complete and correct. I just don't know how to operate.

I encrypt because it's a hobby. I started encrypting because some guy closeby gets on GMRS and abuses people and he did it once to my wife. She took it personally so in order to get her back into using the radios, I got a gang of Icoms F-4GT-2 with the UT-110 rolling code encryption modules. After I got them, I thought is was the coolest thing since sliced bread so I started pursuing radio encryption with a vengeance.

Well, if you ever decide you wanna sell a few of those xts 5k's, let me know.

OOh, XTS's =D Me and the mutt here in NYC have to deal with these idiots who think the frequencies belong to them and no one else can use them.

Yeah, garageboy and I tested a pair of Modded Icom t2h's to about a mile before we ran out of linear distance. I found a whole bunch of frequencies assigned to the city and to utilities that are still owned, but never used since they went to 800mhz. I found that occasionally popping in on those will keep the jerks off your back.

You rebel!

Mutt, harassing the manager at Old Navy was hilarious. We were listening to a lady on the radio, but she was cutting in and out. So we tell her to hold down the PTT, because we can't hear her . She goes, ok thanks thinking we were her superiors LOL

Err, the threat only applies to Pirate Mutt, correct? If so, please email me the repeater input code and frequency LMAO

It applies to anyone who tampers with an emergency services frequency.

I remembered some threat about being painfully neutered.

Painfully neutered is just the beginning. The FCC fines for unauthorized frequency begin ag $12,500 per occurance and go as high as $250,000 per occurance.

There are additional fines for operating radios in bands they are not type accepted for.

Why not get a ham radio license? You don't need Morse Code anymore and they've dumbed the technical tests down to the point where just about anyone can do it.

yeah, I know all the FCC crap...
I live in NYC... there's about 12 million people here during the day... and about 5 million radios here, including about a thousand run by illegal car dispatch companies putting out about a thousand watts per car. If they narrow a transmitter down by a hundred yards, it's still about two high rise buildings full of places to hide.

get real, the FCC does not exist here in NYC...

Mutt, remember the guy on GMRS/FRS intersitional 1? What was he putting out?
I'm working on my ham license, just need the time to study

the guy is in Lower Manhattan and we heard him all the way out to about Laguardia Airport, 5 by 5. I've heard him out in Nassau County in Long Island so he's probably putting out 40 to 50 watts and has a antenna in a high-rise.
