Anybody familiar with Neito knives? They are apparently made by a company in Spain. I'm sharpening one now for a friend, and I'm really impressed with its quality. My friend is active in scouts, and seriously abused this knife. It's a folder with a roughly 3" blade made from 440C; the handle is aluminum with plastic inserts (sorry, no photo). Anyway, my friend has had the knife for several years, never sharpened it, never cleaned it and, judging from the all the dints, nicks and scars, apparently used it for all kinds of inappropriate tasks. When I first saw it, I thought that it was just the usual POS folder she had picked up somewhere. Then I noticed that, although the knive had dirt and grease splattered on the outside of the knife and caked on the inside, the lock - up was exceptionally strong, with absolutely no blade play in any direction. That, plus the fact that the blade is made from 440C, really got my attention. I'd like to know more about these knives, but a search through the BF archives didn't turn up anything particularly useful. If anyone has any experience with Neito blades, I'd appreciate their comments.

Miguel Nieto do indeed make beautiful knives. They are located in Spain-the latest fax number I found is 967 24 27 15. or e-mail at mnieto@adeca.com. Maybe they can answer some of your questions there.

... but thanks for the info and the links. To see my friend's knife, go here: http://www.aceros-de-hispania.com/

Her knife is in the "serie light", number 523. Assuming that the quality of my friend's knife is typical of Nieto knives, I definitely will looking to acquire some of these.
